Excellent analysis! The tension between current practical tools like Claude in excel and Amodei's long-term vision is really insightful. It makes me wonder about the educational implications of such rapid change.

Oh, and with regard to: "His proposed solutions emphasize surgical interventions: transparency legislation, export controls on chips,"

The latter is just more "anti-China" garbage, whereas the real threat in geopolitical terms is the US and its lap-dogs in the EU and the West's hegemonic intentions, which they express daily. Neither China, Russia nor Iran have ever expressed any such intentions, with regard to AI or anything else. It's only the US that wants to sanction everyone into economic oblivion if they don't do what the US wants.

This makes Amodei even more disagreeable to me.
