Genie 3 is probably one of the most interesting developments for gaming and interactive media right now. The fact that it can generate explorable environments in real time from a simple prompt feels like an early glimpse of how level design and rapid prototyping could change over the next few years.

What I find especially interesting is the distinction between generating a world and generating an actual game. You still need objectives, progression, balancing, physics, and good controls, but being able to create the environment so quickly could save developers a huge amount of time during experimentation.

I spend a lot of time around browser games as well, including https://bunagames.com/, so I’m curious to see whether tools like Genie eventually make it easier for smaller developers to create richer interactive experiences directly for the web.

Genie 3 is the bit I actually clicked through. The fake rooms look better every month. Still no help when the dryer in the next room is the thing that died. AppliRoot https://appliroot.com/ is what I use for that.
